OHS, Inc. employs seasoned professionals to conduct its surveying and mapping operations including a Florida licensed PSM (Professional Surveyor and Mapper). Our surveyors have proven experience with a variety of survey equipment including conventional total stations, RTK GPS, fathometers, side-scan sonar, multi-beam magnetometers, and Hypack navigation software. All equipment is portable, allowing easy transport to remote islands and utilizing vessels of opportunity.

These services include beach, profiling, existing condition surveys at the onset of a project, progress surveys and quantity surveys, aerial photography target placement and control, and final As-Built Certifications.

RTK GPS Surveys

The survey team at OHS is trained and experienced in using some of today’s most accurate surveying equipment. With our Trimble 5700 RTK GPS system, we can collect real-time horizontal and vertical positioning data to the nearest inch. RTL surveys are employed when precise data is needed over a large geographic area.

Engineer As-Built

With the use of our survey equipment, OHS can provide you with engineer certified drawings of your post-construction marine projects.

Hydrographic Surveys

Hydrographic surveys are generally used to obtain below0water seafloor elevation in any body of water. This data is fundamental when building docks and marinas, providing necessary data for numerical modeling programs, and oceanic studies. The OHS survey team is trained in using fathometers, conventional surveying methods, and Hypack navigation software, as well as operating survey vessels in order to conduct a hydrographic survey. Real-time tide measurements are obtained concurrently with the elevation data.

Magnetometer Survey

With the use of a boat deployed magnetometer, OHS can conduct a specific underwater survey focusing solely on metallic objects located on the surface or sub-surface of the ocean floor. This type of survey is primarily used to locate underwater pipelines, utilities, and even lost equipment (including shipwrecks).

Side-Scan Sonar Survey

The OHS survey team is capable is performing side-scan sonar surveys to provide accurate images or sonograms of underwater objects in great depths, such as sunken vessels or equipment, and damaged marine structures such as broken piers, moorings, pilings, etc. This piece of equipment basically transmits a wide angular array of sounds pulses from a towed device called a towfish. The echoes are instantly sent back to the towfish and an image is displayed on the monitor. The images are used to produce detailed accurate maps of the seafloor.

Beach Profiles

With the rise of RTK GPS systems and conventional surveying methods, the OHS survey team can conduct accurate profiles of shoreline elevations. This data is typically used for studying accretion and erosion of featured shorelines and is essential for planning beach nourishment projects. The beach profile data is also a necessary input for numerical modeling programs and wave crest/storm surge analyses.

Aerial Photography Control

OHS can install aerial targets and provide vertical elevations and horizontal positions with the use of our survey equipment. The control data is then supplied to the aerial mapping firm which uses it for the analytical triangulation process to provide rectified aerials and topographic maps..

Offshore Equipment Placement

With the use of GPS receivers and Hypack or Trimble navigation software, the OHS survey team can accurately determine where offshore equipment is to be placed or document a project’s process. OHS can provide a full turn-key GPS solution for your offshore project.
