Above & Below Water Structural Inspections

At OHS, we can conduct above and below-water structural inspections for any marine structure. Our staff includes engineers and professional engineer divers trained to visually and physically inspect marinas, docks, bulkheads, seawalls, bridges, and many other marine structures. We will provide the client with advice on necessary repairs, maintenance, and cost estimates if needed.

Marina & Dock Design

Our in-house engineers at OHS have vast experience in designing anything from a single-family dock to a multi-use marina facility. We can provide preliminary designs, permits sketches, or construction drawings.

Hydraulic Conductivity Calculations

OHS staff can install test wells to determine the drainage characteristics for a site. Percolation tests are used as the basis for any drainage design.

Bulkhead & Seawall Design

Our engineering staff at OHS has proven experience in the design of today’s most common seawalls and bulkheads including cantilever sheet pile walls, concrete pile and panel walls, concrete gravity walls, and panels walls with tie-back systems.

Marina & Dock Permitting

Dock permitting in South Florida has become quite a complex process. OHS staff and our partners are experts in the permitting process and most importantly, have established excellent working relationships with regulatory staff. Our experience includes initial site investigations, permit sketches, regulatory meetings, site determinations, filling, permit negotiations.

Jetties & Breakwater Design

Jetties are used to protect the entrance of a channel or to prevent shoaling where longshore sediment transport is a factor. Breakwaters are typically used to protect marinas from direct wave impacts from an open fetch of water or wake from passing boats. There are various options of construction for these structures in which the engineers at OHS are extremely knowledgeable about. Our engineers have spent a great deal of time designing these structures according to site-specific conditions and with the aid of numerical models.
